A few weeks ago at GPAF, I was able to listen to the Selectronic ProFet and I was really impressed. It is a 15 watt stereo amplifier using field effect transistors (FET) and premium components throughout. Another model is available in monoblock form. There are no reactive components in the signal path whatsoever, no coils, no coupling caps, nothing. It's the closest an amplifier gets to being the hypothetical "straight wire with gain." The ProFet is scheduled to be reviewed by AudioXpress, who will probably do their usual thorough job. I am confident that it will charm their reviewer as much as it did me.

So now I'm eager to build a ProFet amplifier and document the process here. I'll try to spend an hour each day or two, take photos and post them here.

Selectronic packages their kits very well for the trip overseas. The first thing that will impress you about Selectronc is they aren't your usual kit company. They are a large company, and it shows in every aspect from their quality parts, silkscreened circuit boards and well-made chassis to the shipping box and packaging material.
