>And so whats wrong with that? I need to vent here. How can a person dismiss the perception of quality sound heard by guys; like yourself, who know music; as a bias because maybe it doesn't correlate with some measured spec?
Thats beyond me. Like dismissing all tube amps and people who like them as simpleminded children fascinated by the glowing bulbs but completely incapable of making a reasoned judgement of the sound because they are captivated by the glow.

Also; can you re-post your website on the music forum for us? Thanks<

I think a lot of it has to do with how measurements are done. Certain measurements (like the warble tone tests) just don't corralate with what a good ear hears. Better ways of testing would be more meaningful.
Musicians are a funny breed. Many are completely happy listening to a small boom box or a Sanyo rack system. Only a few are like me and really care about reproduced sound. I wouldn't take for granted what the average musician says about the sound of a playback system. They can give great insight into the performance aspect, and to the quality of the instuments used, and even the mix used at the recording. It's just most don't have any interest in playback quality. I've always found this strange. I was an audiophile-type before I was a musician, so maybe that's it. Audio led me to my interest in playing music. I suspect with most musicians, playing music came about through a different route.
How is one to judge if a certain musican can notice a corralation with measurements or not? How do we judge if a certain musican really perceives a difference between a sony speaker and a Pi speaker, and can accurately describe it? I'm sure many can, but I'm sure many may either not be able to or just don't care.
We musicians are funny beasts.

I'll post my webpage again on the music forum.

Here it is for those to lazy to go to the music forum.
