Hi all

I am thinking of trying to build a hybrid line array with a 1.1m array of mids and tweeters and twin 8" woofers top and bottom - the idea is from the Nola Grand Reference main tower (http://www.nolaspeakers.com/). I use Tact RCS 2.2x and have the Tact Boz216/2200 (3units) which I would use for the digital crossovers.
From the many posts here and from the Selah Audio designs, I plan to use the Fountek Ne02.0 ribbons. The mids (6-8 per side) and woofers (4 per side) are a bit more dificult to decide on. I have looked at the AudioTechnology (Skaaning) 4" woofers and the ScanSpeak Revelator 4.5" midranges - they seem great but are very pricey.
An alternative seems to be the Creative Sounds/Adire FR125S which is about a third of the price and the curves look good.
For the woofers, I had looked at the Seas Excel 8" and the Eton 8-472/32 LH Hexacone - again both quite pricey. An alternative would be the Adire Extremis 6.8.
I would be grateful for opinions on whether the more expensive drivers would be significantly better than the Adire drivers and whether the cost difference is justified. Ultimately I would be prepared to use the costlier drivers if the sound was that much better. Unfortunately as I live in South Africa, it will not be possible to listen to them

Thanks in advance and regards

Jose
