I run a pair of A25's in the rec room. They are bone stock and sound nice with a modded Dyna 70 and PAS 3. In fact that could satisfy me if I had to remove all the other stuff and live with just that system.
Have you considored a high end 12" driverin a reflex box with a good 2" comp driver and a wood horn? I have a photo of one such set-up from a guy in Europe who uses TAD woofer and Cpompression driver on a reflex box and a homemade wooden horn. It looks nice and seems to have all the juice as well as high sensitivity.
It seems from reading your post you have a goodly amount of personal experience; whats the best sound you can remmember hearing?
