What area of the country is that photo and what do they call those hills? Is that granite?
Those hills resemble the Catskill mts in New York; geologically very old with granite and shale deposits. Here there are parts of the Adirondaks that have not been mapped or explored. You can walk from Peekamoose MT over 300 miles straight into Canada without hitting a road or civilisation. Funny because the trails start only 40 mi north of the Bronx at Bear Mt.
Jack Kerouac devotes a whole chapter of "On The Road", to that spot.
Looks like a real nice day; swing by and pick me up next time; I love hiking. I'll pack the wine skin and some granola bars.
