Yes, I have thought about it.
There are several considerations that work against me selling kits. For instance, I have a hard time getting enough of the waveguides. If I were to sell a kit with a pair of waveguides I'd make probably a couple hundred bucks, but then that's one less pair of speakers I can sell from which I'd have made a grand or more.
If the waveguide supply situation improves, then kits start to make more sense.
A certain man who spent some time in my room at T.H.E. Show seemed quite interested in my design, and asked me what drivers I was using. I told him (Beyma CP-385 compression driver in both speakers, Ciare 12.00NdW-1 in Stormbringer, TAD TL-1102 in the Jazz Modules). He wrote this down, then asked me if he could buy one of each crossover from me. Well, call me cynical but I had the distinct impression that he wanted to steal my designs, have them built in Asia, and sell them there. So I declined (if I'd have been on my toes, I'd have said "sure - the crossovers are automatically included in each pair of speakers!"). Maybe he'd even sell them here - with even a small initial investment he could easily out-market me. Now I don't think for a heartbeat that anyone on this site would do that, but how do I know this man or an associate of his wouldn't buy a kit?
I haven't ruled kits out, so if you'd like to present arguments in favor by all means do so.
Cheers,
Duke
