Hi
I am thinking of trying a subwoofer array to complement my Eton 5" and Fountek ribbon array I built earlier. I use Tact W210 corner woofers with digital room correction to equalize the output. The Tact 10" woofers don't go quite as low as I would like and I currently augment these with an add-on low bass consisting of a 12" Peerless and 15" PAudio per side but this is a temporary setup.
I can get some Peerless 12" drivers to play with (830500 XLS). I was thinking of using 4 per side and have come up with two possible designs.
1) A vertical array of 4 per side in a sealed box
2) A low corner unit with two side-firing drivers per side next to one another as per the Tact design, even though the Tact only uses 1 driver on each side of the corner box. All the drivers would be close to floor level which may improve the gain. The sub box would be placed diagonally across the corner so that the drivers fire to the side and back wall resp.
I could of course build both designs and see which works better but this is time-consuming and I would appreciate any views on these (or other) designs.
The sub array would either be used below 50Hz or perhaps up to 160Hz (in place of the Tact subs) depending on how they sound.
Regards
Jose
