Today's rantis about special features on dvd format films.

What';s so special about them? I went through several editions of
the miniseries version of Dune to catch all the "special features"
I missed from watching vhs, And I've seen those Dune shows
about 3 times all the way through.

But those special features: bored panel sitting around jabbering
about the future-- one "on tv" named Ray Kurzweil who was stiffer
than the warm bodies in the room. Harlan Ellison was so petrified
with boredom he was scraping the paper off his bottled water.

I remember Ellison in his prime. This was a waste. As an
old man (prob'ly 10 years older than me) he looks like one of
rubber faced aliens on those star trek episodes I've been
catching up on. This wouldn't be so bad if it was some fan
convention, but this is part of a video package.

Then there was the obligatory interview with the director
and crew who are a self-congratulatory nightmare of
stupefaction. These special features must be a gag and I
haven't been let in on the joke.
