I'm wondering about how to interpret response curves. Specifically, the link below is to the curve for the JBL K2 S9800. It clearly shows (to me anyway) that the response of this speaker is -3dB at about 45Hz, and it looks to be about -10dB at around 35Hz.Now I'm thinking that, based on the curve, that this speaker is going to sound a bit "thin". But I also assume I don't know what I'm looking at - this is a $25,000 "statement" product; can it be that it needs a sub? That doesn't seem logical to me. Will the room response fill in the rest?
Or is it that *every* speaker needs a sub to fill out the bottom octave? That no two- or three-way speaker can do the job by itself?
Thanks for any clarification.
