Vintage from the late '60's.
Fairly efficient at about 106dB with an Fs around 40, the low "F" Pedal Tone in the Berlioz Requiem.
Kind of a mid-horn with just a .522 bore and 8 1/2" bell but it projects the lowest octave as well as the highest. In fact, it's (my)range is just about limited to 3 octaves:)
It's so weird listening to myself instead of CD's after 15 years of not playing!
Trying to get my chops back with 1/2 hour a day of excercises.
The Internet is just as powerful a tool for musicians as for anything else. Forums, info sites; all the major and not-so-major players from the Philharmonics to local Jazz bands have websites.
I printed out all my warm-up exercises and Etudes from one site. Amazing.
And of course I'm listening to nothing but Berlioz, R. Strauss and Dvorak for classical. J.J. Johnson and BS&T for Jazz and Pop. All I did before was play classical in orchestras but I'm starting to learn J.J.'s riffs on Sonny Rollins Volume 2.
