My NEW Electro Voice X-8 and X-36 Crossovers with PICs
I have some nice Electro Voice drivers, Sp15...midrange, and T35 tweeter horns...and 40 yr old crossovers that sound a little bit like the proverbial "Blanket tossed over the speaker" sound.

The originals, I'm told are NOT worth digging the parts out of the tar in the crossover enclosure.

SO, I made some! and wanted them to look cool while I'm at it. There are no wires showing, all that is underneath, like a tube amp chassis...I put screws through the bottom screw holes on the connecting strips, and attached the wires via soldered connectors inside the box. The bolts are plated steel. Any idea of better bolts? I could substitute brass, etc...but these seem to work fine. The pretty parts are on top, and all the other stuff out of sight. Parts Express provided all the stuff.

Wood box, with 1/4 in plywood top. Charcoal Hammertone finish.

It's got Solen Caps, and Jantzen free air coils. It was done to EV's schematic for 16 ohm applications. I've just finished this pair and ready to do an A/B comparison with the old units in the other speaker. They sound really good with the drivers hooked up out of the cabinets. I've got to hook up some better wires while I'm at it, the old ones don't look up to the task.

Hell, I almost want to on put rubber feet and set them on the top of the cabinets. Could look cool.
