I do grant that the best MP3s are not too bad, but with storage so cheap why not use the uncompressed files. My portable player, a FIIO X3, can handle 256 gig on a single chip. That is an enormous number of tracks. Many thousands.
Because it's not a smartphone too. I appreciate the sound is better, but I think most people just want that all-in-one device that's always on hand.
