Well, discounting the hum deal, in my comparison of the OM 30 and the V15vxmr, I found the following. The Ortophon had more top end, but is was brittle in comparision to the Shure. Adjusting the VTA a little ( more tail down) made this a little better. The rest of the midrange and bass went to shure by no small margin. For the money, this shure cartridge is an excellent value. It is also the More expensive of the two so this is no big news. Not to mention it is dead quiet in my all tube system, even playing through effiecient horn speakers.
