I don't actually remember the 70's, but I have looked into the music scene from that era, and asked older relatives, of course. It seems that there were three main strands of music in the 70's: rock based music ranging from classic rock such as Led Zeppelin to soft rock, such as the Eagles; soul and disco music ranging from Stevie Wonder to Barry White; and, later on in the 70's, there was the emergent punk scene in the form of the Sex Pistols and others, which ultimately led to the New Wave of the 80's.

By the way, I am writing from a British perspective, so the music scene may have been a bit different in other countries.
