See the "foam versus fiberglass" thread, which is on a similar topic. But I think there's also a little more to it than just what damping material is used. There is also the configuration used, which may be more to your point. Some people use panel absorbers for bass, others use bass traps which are cavity resonance absorbers. For higher frequencies, most use open cell foam "wedges" and other similar absorbent materials.
