When you shop for audio equipment online, there is always the chance that you will end up getting a counterfeit product. You think you're buying something with a Sony brand, only to open it up when it gets to you, and you see that it was made by "Sonee".

What are some good ways of spotting a bad purchase like this before you actually purchase it?
