As Wayne said, recones are as good as the originals, but I have no idea how you would tell its a genuine JBL, without measuring (or having a trustworthy source).

$450 each is a bit expensive for re-cones. You can find them brand new for around there.

I picked up mine from Ebay at under $200 a pop. They are all original cones (one is a 2226HPL). You can tell originals by the back of the cone having drips, and the dustcap having perfectly symmetrical "bunny ears", where the 2 leads are punched in the center.
