I just got my hands on a nice, big conga drum shell that uses a barrel type construction to form the shell (strips of wood that stand vertically and are glued together along their long sides to form the drum). These strips are coming apart and I need to glue them back in place before I can re-head the drum. Any suggestions? I am planning on using padded ratchet straps and standard white wood glue, but are there any tips I need to know before I go at it? Thanks!
