Listening tonight to some new/old vinyl on my just restored, again, Ariston.
"The Montreux Collection" Pablo 2625-70; 2 record set from Montreux 1975. Side 2 is sublime: Alison Joe Pass on solo guitar, Slow Death Modern Jazz Quartet and The Man I Love Ella Fitzgerald backed by Tommy Flanagan, piano; Keter Betts, Bass; and Bobby Durham, drums.
Now it's "Soultrane"; Prestige 7142
John Coltrane, Red Garland Piano; Paul Chambers Bass and Arthur Taylor Drums.
All this music is so fresh and original 30 years later. Plus well-recorded. The only thing you can say for CD's is that with them, you can cook dinner w/o having to risk burning the burgers while flipping the vinyl.
