Recently, Bill Epstein suggested that I use nitrocellulose on some speakers I'm having built. I was wondering, is that the finish commonly used on guitars? It's a form of lacquer, right?

The finish I'm looking for is a shiny smooth surface that almost looks like the pearl coat on a car. I really like how it looks on pianos and guitars.
