Re: 3 Pi or similar for Small room - Near field listening?
All models of Pi speakers offer high-efficiency and smooth response. They are an easy load for tube amps. The one Pi and two Pi models do not offer uniform directivity. They sound great for what they are, and are suitable for surround speakers or ca...

Re: Subs for floorstander and corner horns
There are two different answers to what are really two different questions here. One is whether subs are needed for six Pi and seven Pi constant-directivity cornerhorns. The other is whether subs are needed for two Pi towers. They're two different...

An evening with Michael Bublé
Kelly and I went to see Michael Bublé in Kansas City this past weekend. I gotta tell you, the guy's still got it. I don't know why I say, "still got it" - he's only in his mid-40s - but he started doing this back when he was a teenager. No...

Re: My 3π adventure
Measured in-room, I think your response curves are pretty good. This is typical in-room response. Looks to me like all is working as designed. In-room measurements show the room more than they do the speakers. But having a waveguide speaker really ...

Re: So tiny!
Hi Everyone, I have a pair of the Altec Magnificents. They are really "small" at 7.5 cubic feet each. I had to rebuild them as there were no drivers. They use the same drivers as most other Altecs (15 inch woofer and horn for everything else). ...

Re: 2PI Crossover
You've got mail! If you have the room - especially if these speakers will be used as mains - choose the towers. They dig much deeper into the bass than the bookshelf model. The bookshelf model is excellent for surrounds, and its size makes it also a...

Re: Large Bass, Small Treble
Very late reply but why not lol. Yes rooms with alot of soft surface, drapes, cloth sofas, rugs n so on, is high frequency dampers, so they reduce high frequency boundary reflections which results in Less persieved treble from your speaker... Small ...

Large Bass, Small Treble
Over the years, I've noticed that in a large room with little to no furnishings, I need to turn the bass up to get a good sound. Smaller rooms with a lot of furnishings need the bass turned lower for more treble. Have you guys noticed this too?

Re: Same stereo/speakers different sound
Rooms definitely have a big influence on the sound. Think about how things sound in a small room (like a bathroom) compared to a large room (like an auditorium). The most significant influence is from room modes and self-interference from boundaries....

Re: Acoustics in exposed brick and metal room
Thank you for responding, Wayne! I thought about adding damping material, but I can't really do anything with the walls. I can hang things like acoustic blankets from the metal pipes though. I guess I'll try that next. I can also set up a clothesline...
