Re: 7pi plans and planning
You've got mail! The seven π constant directivity cornerhorn is designed to be used with the JBL 2226H in the bass bin. We haven't tested any Acoustic Elegance in this design, but I do not think you would have any trouble substituting drivers in the ...

Re: 7pi plan and guidance request
If you have the right corners, I would suggest using the 2226 drivers in seven π constant directivity cornerhorns and make subwoofers from the 2242 drivers. Put the subs in opposite corners or somewhere distant from the cornerhorns, in a multisub config...

Re: Various questions regarding 7Pi
Answers by numbers: Midhorn questions: 1. In the π constant directivity cornerhorn designs, the midhorn blends with the bass bin in the 100Hz to 200Hz region. There is enough output from both sound sources to mitigate vertical room modes and floor ...

Re: Plans request
Do you have appropriate corners for constant directivity cornerhorns? If so, I suggest building those. If not, go with four π mains and flanking subs. Please decide which direction you want to go and let me know. I'll send plans as soon as you decide...

Re: Placement of the speakers
Left and right mains should flank the video screen, and be at the same vertical height as the screen. The center channel should be centered and at the same height as the screen. That's only possible of the screen is acoustically transparent, so some pe...

Re: The corners
I took that inference from the OP comments too. I digressed a bit about how a speaker must be acoustically close to the corner to gain the benefit of constant directivity. That is a significant fact, very important for the proper implementation of a ...

Re: The corners
He hit the nail on the head, saying a properly built constant directivity cornerhorn has no reflections. But I must admit, there are not many loudspeaker models that do the trick. All sound sources must be acoustically close to the corner or they mus...

Re: LSAF 2017
Kelly Parham greets you in the π Speakers room I really loved the show this year. I always do, even with all the work, but this year was even better for me. We had our usual fun dinner night out on Saturday, this year with Scott and Donna Shaeffer...

Re: Placing speakers against the wall
Just to be clear for those that don't study the material in the links: Placing a speaker against the wall that is not designed for it has disadvantages. But a speaker can be designed to be placed against a wall, turning potential problems into streng...

Re: Mid horn driver options
I tested the midhorn with a variety of drivers during development. By "variety" I actually mean "several" - even some that weren't 10" diameter. In fact, I first wanted to use 8" drivers but found none that were satisfacto...
