Re: Flanking subs
Ok, I have a plate amp in mind that has DSP built in, can that be used? also, am I understanding that there are 3 subwoofers total, 2 on each side of the subs and another one on the other side of the room?

Re: Flanking subs
Your flanking subs should work well there. I visualize the mains on stands, toed-in 45°. The flanking subs are just outside, on the floor. Each of the mains and its flanking sub are pushed out nearly to the side wall. This is a good setup. Then put ...

Re: 3 Pi sub questions
The three Pi sub kit is really just a woofer and port material. We also include the connector panel, a "π" logo and a printed copy of the plans. There is no passive crossover included. The crossover, as you've rightly indicated, is specifi...

Re: Low Pass
Thanks Barry. Whew. Yeah that JL gear is a might bit out of my price range. But thanks anyway. Keeping my fingers crossed regarding the plate amp I have. It's a PE amp. What I'm glad to hear is your description of the benefits you've experienced with this ...

Re: Low Pass
Sure Barry. Better to have as much information and choices as possible. This subwoofer project of mine will be, (if I ever get going on cabinet building), a long term project. I've had on hand for more than a decade, a JBL sub 1500 driver that I procured...

Re: Low Pass
Hi Wayne, Even without the fmods there are still impedance issues but very minor. If you attach the cable to the sub amps (without turning the subs on) there is still a change in the sound. A tad less bass or a tad less volume? Don't know exactly wh...

Re: Low Pass
That's my aim, flanking subs. So I'll give that Rolls crossover a try using the stereo low pass. For distribution subs using plate amps, whats the best method of running a signal to it? Doesn't running a long interconnect cause problems? I wondered if I sh...

Low Pass
Discovered some very weird component matching issues when adding subs to the system. My plate amp is mono and if you cross it over at 100 hz it sounds odd as mono doesn't work quite right at that frequency. Borrowed a Crown amp and some 100hz 2nd order ...

Re: Definimax 4012HO - End of Life
Thank you Wayne and @Symphonimind! I've read through the links you added Wayne and it gave me a better understanding of the importance of flanking subs for three π or four π speakers. I've built one BR sub with a Dayton DCS255-4 10" I needed it ...

Re: The DE912a Arrays of Awesomeness
Yes, it's a diy sub made from a Parts Express 2' sealed box with a 12" Ultimax driver and their 500W plate amp. A sub is required with these speakers. The open back design doesn't go much below 120hz.
