Re: 4 Pi Build in San Luis Obispo - Settings for Flanking Subs
It never hurts to use a high-pass filter for vented subs set at or just below the Helmholtz frequency. So if your sub cabinets are tuned to 20Hz, set a fourth-order high-pass at 15-20Hz.

Re: 4 Pi Build in San Luis Obispo - Settings for Flanking Subs
Finally, finished my flanking subs. I am using 2, 15" Drivers from Parts Express in ported enclosures. For flanking subs, you said "just set it for low-pass 100Hz BW 12dB/Oct." For this I am going to use a miniDSP that I have from a prev...

Re: Is it safe to position a Sub facing a room's side walls?
It doesn't matter what direction you face subs if they are crossed over below 80Hz or so. But if they are run higher than that - and you need the upper-end response - then orientation can matter. The only times I would want subs run high are when they ...

Re: PI 4 Upgrades
If you have the H290C waveguide, it sounds like you're upgraded as far as you can go, at least as far as "factory upgrades" are concerned. You could replace the B&C driver with a TAD TD-2002, but I've never offered it because of the price....

Great Pricing on Crown Amps
Hi Everyone, I picked up a Crown XLi 3500 professional power amplifier to run my dual 15" flanking subs (subs under construction) and the price was significantly cheaper than any other vendor that I could find including Parts Express, Harman / Crow...

Re: 4 Pi Build in San Luis Obispo - Parts Arrived, Got a Router Jig
Nice work so far. And man, I hear you about the "things get in the way" issue when doing projects. I always have several projects underway, and like you, I have several disruptors. But I always try to remember that a mountain is climbed one ...

Re: 4 Pi Build in San Luis Obispo - Parts Arrived, Got a Router Jig
It has been a few weeks since my original post. Somehow, when I do projects, audio and otherwise I seem to forget just how difficult it is to find time to work on stuff. In the planning phase I envision myself working away, continuously until the project i...

Re: Smaller 3 pi construction?
Of course, a loudspeaker like you've described could be designed and I would expect it to be great, if done properly. But don't modify the cabinet dimensions without acoustic testing, and specifically pay attention to the lower midrange. That's what ...

Smaller 3 pi construction?
Hi! I am thinking about building a couple of speakers for the living room. My preference would be the 4 pi, but they are a too big for wife acceptance. The compromise is to build a smaller 2-way speaker designed like the Klipsch Heresy III (24" ...
