Re: Building YOUR single driver speaker:
Thanx Martin. your opinion does help a lot. BTW, in my home brewed BR boxes, I use carpet, 3/4" baltic birch and 3 braces, and i don;t hear the bass as boomy at all... i think the bracing may be helping a bit in that regard. The midrange is now controlled...

Re: Adjusting for difference in gain in biamping
If the gain on the hot sub system can't be controlled by the active crossover, then as Wayne suggest use a trim pot. I usually put a 100k pot between the input jacks and the amplifier. I like to put a DPDT switch to bypass the pot's too. All these crazy ...

Re: Any good suggestions for subwoofers with full ranges?
akhilesh,In a typical box subwoofer the radiation pattern is omni-directional, thus equal amount of energy is aimed at the sidewalls as to the front and back. With open baffle, energy is directed only toward the front and back. Energy to the sides is canc...

Suggestions for horn sub needed
Thinking about Labsubs - but they're a little large - I might could use a cornerhorn - but in one of the corners there is only about 3 ft of side wall before there is a french door that indents about 3" or so from the trim. I usually leave that particular ...

Just for Kicks : ) kinda long
Garland,I should know this after a year plus on this forum, but have you exhausted all usable speaker/listener locations (esp. near corners)?I wonder if you have a room cancellation prob. I have 4Pi's and I can do bad things to my house in the 20's of hz (...

Re: Active crossover for 4Pi with 2235 Pi sub
Kelly,The best crossover point will be some what dependent on your room. For instance I have wood floors and some low frequnecy boosting problems because of theat. when I crossed at 80 with a 4th order, It still gave me too much around 100-150hz. I found t...

Re: altec gear in a pi box??
Thanks to all for the posts. I don't want a sub, so it seems like the 825 cab will not get the job done for bass down to 40hz or so. does everyone agree about that? The T/S params for the 416b are xmax=.15 Vd=19.20 Fs=25.1 Vas=26.47 Qts=.32 Qms=7.05 Qes=.33...

Re: Adam read -
Well, I'm not too crazy about sealed boxes. There is no doubt in my mind that a sealed box can sound good, but I personally think that a ported box will sound better with the right driver if you design the box properly, and will go deeper and be more effi...
