The box art and the IMDb say "Don't Miss This." And I agree.

It was recommeneded to me by one of the dudes at the vid store
where I eventually rented it last night.

Bubba Ho Tep takes place at the Mud Creek Nursing Home
in Texas.

It is a small film about two of the residents. Bruce Campbell
plays the character who thinks he's Elvis Presley. Ossie Davis
plays the character who is convinced he is John F. Kennedy.

Bubba Ho Tep is one of those uncategorizable films:
Fantasy? Comedy? Drama? Hell, they even get into the
transmigration of souls.

Unlike most online reviewers, I not only do not give spoilers,
I do not give much of the story either. It distracts and detracts
from all the surprises that await you.

I laughed out loud more than a few times sitting here by
myself watching it late into the night. Even the trailers are
good. These were about (amongst others) a foreign film called
Osama for instance.

Anybody see Riddick?

seek out "The Reflecting Skin" by Philip Ridley

Pi looked like a student directing project.

One thing that has damaged original filmmaking is the
whole Sundance scene. It has become as trite as H'wood.

Beware of pictures that are too self referential, take place
on the highway between LA and Las Vegas or are "about" the
neat characters one meets while making the film.

As for quirky films starring big stars I'd give the
nod to Steve McQueen in "Baby The Rain Must Fall". I'm
still looking for that to see it again. I don't see stuff
like The Wild One w/Brando as being outrageous or even
interesting.

Other all-time quirkout is "The Ruling Class" with Peter O'Toole.

FYI, Isabelle Huppert is in the new release called "I [heart]
Huckabee's."
