Can you explain the purpose and effect of the 16 ohm resistor accross the Vifa dx25 in the new vwersion of the Studio 2 pi?

What would happen without this resistor?

It's a damping resistor. It's purpose is to damp the resonant circuit formed by the crossover capacitor and the tweeter's voice coil.
