Hi all i have a simple question equipment 350watt plate amp 2x20watt mini system with no line in i used to wire my little 20w amp, like this mini system with main speakers on the speaker outs as usual and wire the 20w sub amp in parallel with the speaker outs This is perfectly ok to do with the 350w amp isnt it? because im driving the speakers ~8ohm and the line level 10k ohm? then the line level isnt actualy being overdriven ? Il be buying an amp with inputs if i can soon so i can can run my source direct into plate amp to highpass the main speakrs to prevent excess excursion it arrives tomorow, the plate amp :-) the jbl 2226 will love me for it Cheers

Yes i have to power the 350watt amp from the first, with no Line out, only speaker out But then i just rememberd-i have headphone output-is this more closer to line level? Id avoid it too-but my mini system is really crap, and i cant afford another good amplifier yet, i had to quit my job as ive got a virus,my platelets are low ,so cant work at night anymore, too shattered. i can get another dayjob but earn less Cheers

only 134$NZ for complete kit also and its TINY i guess if the sound quality of my discman is too bad i can buy a cheap cd player Cheers

Man, that sucks about your situation with the virus and your job. I'm sorry 'bout that. The deal on your amp is that the input is such a high impedance it's not a good match for the output of another power amp. It might be kind of noisy. But it will work just fine so just make sure you have a voltage divider network to drop the input down to 0.775v maximum. Headphones outputs are usually voltage limited, but they are still relatively low impedance outputs. Can you split the output from your disc player and run it to both amplifier inputs? That seems like it would be best. What prevents you from doing this?

I thought so. I referd to my discman because ,if i buy a new stereo amplifier then i could use that and wire it howeveri like eg optimally My mini system i currently use has nothing but speaker outs and headphone.. Il get a 10k and 1k resistor,on the speeaker out and see how it sounds Cheers!
