I am looking at a 2205h reconed to 2225h specs. What should I expect from this speaker - I can't tell if I am looking at a 2205 or 2225. Anyone have thoughts on how this would work for my LF?

Sorry about the simplistic nature of this question, but I am a bit confused about what effect this reconing would have on performance.

Both the JBL 2205 and 2225 are great drivers. I liked the 2225's midrange better but I liked the 2205's bass better. So if the woofer is to be used solely below 500Hz, I'd go with the 2205. But if it will be used to 1kHz or more, I'd go with the 2225.

Do you know if I am getting a 2225? It will have the same magnet, spider, etc. of the 2205 I assume, but I don't have a clue as to what 'reconed with 2225' means - any idea?

There's only have one genuine JBL recone kit currently available, and that is the C8R2225. It has the 2225 cone and voice coil but will fit the 2205.

If the magnet is ferrite, then your reconed speaker is equivalent to a 2225.

It becomes a 2225h with an Alnico magnet.

The 2205A had an alnico magnet. The 2205H had a ferrite magnet with a flux stabilization ring.

So yours is a 2205A with a C8R2225 cone assembly? That's an interesting breed. I'll bet it's smoooooth.
