Hello Wayne, I would like to build a pair of the 2Pi Towers. I will be ordering the parts kit, do the plans come with the parts kit? If so I wouldn't bother requesting them now but if it will take a while to get the parts kit here I guess I could get started on the boxes sooner if you e-mail the plans to me now. Also, from what I have been reading here at the forum, boxes of this size would be better suited being build from ply-wood instead of MDF (I amguessing because of weight issues) ... do you agree?

A printed copy of the plans comes with each kit. And even though a printed copy is included, we also send plans by E-Mail when the order is received. Kits are usually sent the same day an order is received or at least in the next day or two. But you don't need to purchase kits to get the plans - Just send me your E-Mail address and I'll reply with them.

As to the wood for making cabinets, the largest speakers are often made of plywood because of weight issues, that's true. Smaller ones are done in MDF. What's as important as the stock used for the panels is that they be braced. So install a brace that slightly preloads the panels every 18".

Great news in every respect Wayne, thanks for responding. I will order tommorow, I don't have time today.

One question for now... in regrards to the bracing, what do you mean when you say "preloads the panels"? I will brace boxes without question... I am just trying to understand what this means, Thanks.

We have kits in stock, so if you order tomorrow, they'll ship on Monday and you'll have 'em before next weekend.

About bracing, the braces should fit just a little snug, so that some tension is applied when they are fit. That's what I mean by preloading. You don't want the panels to budge, but you do want to apply a slight pressure, to make them more taut. So make them fit a little bit snug, and then just glue 'em in.
