Hi,
I'm still searching for my personal speaker nirvana. Is the 10 pi available as a bass binn only? I have thoughts of mounting an altec 511 on top. Has anybody tried this? Any thoughts? Am I headed down the right path? I have more questions than ideas....

The ten π horn is a bass bin, yes. You can add whatever HF on top you want.
