Here's my situation. I'm a software engineer between paying gigs, so I've got some time but no money. I'd like to pick a Pi Speaker project and start working on the cabinet - and get the components later. Going over the archives I have come up with 2 component options.1) Eminence Delta 15, Eminence PSD2002 or 2) JBL 2226, Eminence PSD2002 The 2226 is an option assuming I can get a used one at a good price. I'll decide between bass reflex and folded horn later, but the smaller Professional 4 is more practical in my house. Some other background. My current amps are an HHScott 299B (rated 22wpc) and an entry level Teac AG-380 receiver. I plan to build a scratch push-pull EL34 tube amp to mate with the Pi speaker later. I listen to all kinds of music. My wife is a church organist and I collect pipe organ CDs and LPs. What do you think. What price range can I find a used JBL 2226? How does the sound quality of the JBL 2226 and Delta 15 compare? Should I consider other PI speaker? Thanks. Wayne and this forum are a great inspiration.

I've been looking for 2226's for awhile for some Pro 4 Pi's. I haven't been able to find them for less than $200 each. If they can be had for less, it'll probably be in an auction/sale/one-time thing. I don't know how the JBL2226 & Delta 15 compare, as I've never heard either, but take a look on the price page at the dimensions. The Delta needs a much larger box. I was on the fence between the 2226 & Delta, but given the size of the boxes, I pretty much have to go with the 2226 now. The box for the Delta's is just too big. Charlie

Hello Craig Take a look at the JBL Tent Sale. You can get a pair of 16 ohm 2226's for $220 delivered in the 4648 box. Or you can do what I did and order 2 3677 Thearter Systems for $120 each. You get a pair of 2035 woofers which if you run them in a box program are very similar with the 2226. They also have a very flat impedance curve if you look at the 4638 data sheet. The point is you get the pair woofers and 2416 compresion drivers for what you are willing to spend on a single driver. http://www.jblpro.com/Tent_Sale Well good luck

Looking for the 3677 at the tent sale I found this. Is this a 3677 cinema loudspeaker?http://www.jblpro.com/Tent_Sale/sale_items.htm 3677S-B S/M 3677S (M115 W/O NETWORK) 1 163.61 From the 3677 PDF: The JBL 3677 cinema loudspeaker
The high-frequency section consists of the JBL 2416-1 pure titanium com-pression driver and 2373 Flat-Front Bi-Radial horn. The low frequency driver is the JBL 2035H, which provides an exceptional match for system power handling and frequency response in the crossover region.
