Hello Question, Should speakers be elevated (some type of stand) so as to have the tweeter at ear level and is this a basic rule for all speakers with a Tweeter. In listening should the speaker cabinet be right on the floor and the tweeter at ear level or should the speaker cab. be isolated from floor. Which is the correct way to set up speaker cabinets with respect to listening position. Any opinions on this or theory. Joe@radtubes

Stands solve one problem and create another. They raise a small speaker closer to ear level, but that introduces a notch from floor reflections causing different path lengths to reach the listener.

My opinion is it is best to make a speaker that doesn't need a stand. Medium sized speakers can be placed in angled risers, sort of mini-stands. But if there is no other way, if a small speaker needs to be elevated over furniture or something, then a stand may be your only choice.
