There is a newer version of high definition TV that is beginning to hit the public, and it is the 1080p HDTV. How do this one differ from 1080i and 720p?

1080p is a higher resolution, progressively drawn version of HDTV - everything is drawn in one pass, meaning the picture is less flickery than 1080i.

Yes, "p" means progressive and "i" means interlaced.

Progressive is better.
