my marshall jcm 800 guitar amp has a nasty hiss that seems dependent on how long i play through it. here's a timetable: play it for 7 or 8 minutes, and the hiss is gone when i stop playing, but returns in about 5 seconds; the hiss is preceded by a short popping sound. the longer i play it, the longer i have before i hear the pop then the hiss. after about 30 minutes, it seems to take much longer (maybe a minute) before the hiss returns. any ideas?
