I pushed the TV out from in-between the speakers and banished it, unwatched to a corner. This, in prep for putting 60X70X12 bookshelves between the speaks. Figger the books, mostly paperbacks would be a pretty good room tweak.
I had always heard the TV and even racks were no-no's.
But I was unprepared for the difference:
With just the shelves in place but not the books , the system sound, not just the imaging, is transformed! Lyrics intelligibilty, inner detail, tighter bass, etc.
I hope the books don't screw it up!

Maybe you could just remove the one that you read? Ahh; it'll be too thin to help.
Nyuk;nyuk.

I guess the stuff in between can vibrate and buzz and make acoustic diffractions and reflections. So it makes sense to me that it would sound better without it there. Does make it kind of hard to watch the movie though.

What does that mean exactly; is that a reflection on the poor quality of the humor expressed here on this thread? Or is it a expression of surprise that Bill would claim to have books?

Actually, I was dyin' to use that pic. If someone writes a really cheesy joke, you can put the image in your post, just for fun.

Bill, what used to be in corner where the TV now sits?
Wondering if the effect is due to the lack of TV between the speakers or the presense of TV in the corner.

ReI always thought the TV thing was about the glass reflecting high freq's. [message #2751 is a reply to message #2745] Fri, 17 February 2006 09:19 Go to previous messageGo to previous message

Same as don't put the system in fron of glass doors and don't have glass doors on the record cabinets. Right?
Nice to see empirical evidence though.
