Any idea how this might work? I'd like something cheap to work with a panasonic electret capsule for speaker FR measurements.

Buying a typical $50 mic preamp for a $2 capsule kinda defeats the purpose http://www.audioroundtable.com/emoticons/smiley.gif

The PE preamp circuit looks adequate.

Here's a microphone preamp that I've used with great success. It's great for microphones such as the Panasonic WM60, and perfect for use with sound cards or the preamp inputs of your stereo system.

The amp is inexpensive and easy to build, and it performs well with a couple of AA batteries for power. The microphone will get power from this circuit, so be sure and observe proper polarity. The Panasonic microphone is pretty sensitive so it will pickup everything in the room. Be careful not to overdrive your inputs; Just turn down the gain.

Thanks, Wayne.

I'm guessing the mic should be grounded too.

FWIW, I plan to use this with the free version ARTA and / or Room Eq. Wizard ( http://www.hometheatershack.com/roomeq/ )

Where do you get your panasonic capsules from? Digikey has them, but I have to pad up the order to meet the minimum order $$ amount.

I buy 'em from Digikey, 10 units at a time. They're still pretty cheap, even when buying 10 of them.
