I was interested in enclosing two 8-watt full range speakers into some sort of small cabinet. What sort of cabinet is recommended? What material, how big, any holes...

The Thiele-Small parameters, Fs, Qts, Qes, Vas, Re, etc.etc., the more info the better. Parts express makes a woofer tester for around 100 bucks to measure all those parameters and more.

Check out the Smith & Larson testers too. Keith Larson made the original one that Parts Express sold. Now they sell a clone. The newer S & L testers do a whole lot more.
