Hey i have 2 stereo speakers connected to a preamp which is then connected to my amplifier. the speakers are rated at 8ohms and my amp has a space for 16, 8, 4 ,2. currently i have my speaker wire running from the +/- of my right speaker to the +/- right side of my amp in the 8 ohms plugs. and the +/- of my left speaker hooked up to the +/- of the left side of my amp in the 8 ohms.

i am wondering if this is correct or is there any better way i can do it?

Let's see if I understand you. You have an amplifier with multiple taps and it is now set for 8Ω. The speakers you are using are 8Ω. You have the left speaker connected to the amplifier's left channel output and the right speaker connected to the amplifier's right channel output. Each speaker's (+) terminal is connected to the (+) terminal on the amp and the (-) terminal on the speaker is connected to the (-) terminal on the amp. If that's how you have it connected, you've done everything right.
