Im new here.
I recently mounted a beefy speaker, JBL e120 in a fairly small cabinet(12"x17"x12") with no port and a closed back (sealed).
Im currently using it with my electric guitar driving about 20 watts.
Im wondering if this was the wrong choice of cabinet for such a speaker.
I dont want to crank the power into it (or play a bass guitar) until I get some advice.

Will I harm the speacker in this cabinet?
If so, what would be a good choice for a cabinet?
Thanks, Rick

That's just fine, now crank it up to 100 watts and enjoy.

The link I've attached shows optimal recommended inside dimensions and port size for a bunch of JBL drivers including your E120. Following the recommended size and a port will probably just get more out of the driver.
