I was approached by a couple of guys in a white van back in the 80's, same story about extra he had to get rid of. I looked at what they were and it was thin particle board garbage, similar to what you might find these days at your local discount audio store. I passed.
About 2 years ago my brother in law came to me trying to convince me of what a great deal he got on studio monitors from some guys in a van. I checked them out, the same garbage found at the convention center buyouts. These scams have been going on for a long time, they must be profitable.
