A lot of the bands I listen to allow you to tape their concerts. I have a few friends that are into it and I'm thinking of trying it someday myself.

Any tapers on here?

I have tried to tape concerts and shows but a lot of people don't actually allow that. You have to get permission most of the time to even get in the door.

I love tapes, but for getting a concert, I prefer MD w/ a powered mic!

I will agree with that one.

I'd say that if I could bet ahold of one of those old Sony's that had quarts locked motors and excellent tape heads, I'd prefer to use that. Too bad they are not so small and stealthy. MD's are also great when you are just jamming at home or with some friends and you don't want to forget what you just did. Seems to be all to common when you forget that you are playing and you are just grooving.

Strange. Fourteen years later with all the advancements in technology, and I have yet see an audience taped video on You Tube that is even mediocre quality.

Hi, New gear can do a great job...but few have it or know how to use it. Some of the portable digital units are really great. Many events won't allow taping. Worse the seating position can be a serious issue. I do use reel to reel for some of my favorite LPs.

Good Listening
