Hello and Happy Holidays

I see a lot of good stuff here!

Gotta question:
I have an old Tascam 38 Reel to Reel. Last time I used it was about 9 years ago - it worked fine then - took real good care of it.

Well I powered it up and discovered that when it tried to play a tape, the capstan engages ok with the pinch roller, but it just stops every time. I guess the little bit of pressure against the roller just slows it to a stop. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the capstan drive? Or worse a bad motor?

Anybody have any clue?

Thank you ands Happy Holidays!

Mike

I had one like that and the pinch roller had turned to gum. How is the rubber on your unit?
