Why does my turntable hum? can this turntable be hooked up to any receiver with Phono input? The turntable has a ground wire

Make sure the ground is connected and all the connectors are clean and tight. Sometimes an oxidized connector will cause that. Otherwise, if it isn't a connection or a wire, then it's the cartridge.
