Can sound one tell me what might cause one channel of sound to go out on a Rega PL 2 turntable. Is it more likely in my turntable or amp?

Could be anything. Here's an easy test to narrow down whether it's in the turntable or the amp: With the amplifier on and at a medium to low volume level, disconnect both channels from the turntable and plug in just the tip of the RCA plug on one channel. You should hear hum on that channel. Try this with both channels and if you hear hum on both sides, the amp is probably good. If so, check the wires to the cartridge and make sure they're not broken.
