Hi there,

am a total newbie to turntables. have used them before but never tried to set one up. bought myself one of these

http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=debutphsb&cat=turntables&lang=en

and have tried to follow the instructions to best of my ability but the needle won't sit on the record, the tonearm just drifts away to the right.

There is a weight which goes on the end of the tonearm. it said attach this weight then twist to adjust it until the tonearm hovers balanced. which i did. it said then return to the clip then hold the weight, and turn the dial attached to the weight until the zero lines up with the pin in the tonearm that the antiskating weight loops onto. which i did. then it said NOT holding the weight, turn the dial to 17.5, the appropriate setting for the cartridge it came with. which i did.

it appears that the anti-skating weight is pulling the tonearm away to the right, but i put it on the setting on the pin (second ridge) as per the instructions.

in short, i have no idea what i am doing or what i have done wrong.

help?

thanks in advance,

besidethesea.
