Back in the day, I used tape to record my vinyl albums and played tapes for casual listening situations, parties, in cars, etc. I tried to keep my vinyl in good shape, playing it less often. I tend to do the same thing now, with CD's being used the same way as tape. I can use a CD copy in the car, take it with me wherever, listen to it for background music. But if I really want to enjoy an album, I'll break out the copy on vinyl. It's like having different vintage wines, some that are finer than others.
