I'd been without vinyl 'cause of arm troubles. My SME had a stripped screw on the cage that holds the RCA's and as a result a headshell wire broke.

At about the same time I discovered that the importer of the KR Audio amp I had for review refurbishes SME arms as well as Thorens and Oracle tables.

So I sent him the arm.

Now it's back with 6 feet of Cardas wire that runs in one piece up through the arm to the headshell and terminated with Cardas RCA's.
I don't know about the "golden section" part of the wire alchemy but it's double shielded like Belden 1505 and I'm hearing a better defined soundstage with quieter backgrounds.

Pretty reasonable cost, $175, for me who can't see to thread the fishing line through the bias weight!

That's a very fair price! What's the name of the importer?

Alfred Kayser who imports the KR Audio tubes and amps. He's in Toronto. Bill Martinelli introduced us. Terrific guy.

I bumped into him on Audiogon, and scored some new "bed grommets" for my Infinity Black Widow, which uses a SME Mount just like the SME arm does. They were a perfect replacement!
