First major battle of Vietnam War. Mel Gibson was excellent but for me a sad movie. We were warned not to get involved but still we went. In the end we got out and it was all in vain. The American military, we can never forget their sacrifice.

From the trailer it looks to take a sentimental view on those being caught up in that terrible event. There's movies depicting our middle eastern debacles now as well. Kind of the same aspect. America sends it's sons and daughters to far flung areas of the world to try and validate our ideals upon the hearts and minds of peoples that have a different value system in their culture and society. Consequently dividing our own society for the effort and loss to pursue such quagmires. I don't know if this movie tries to depict that aspect too much. I don't know if we'll yet get involved somewhere else promoting our way. I hope not, it's been a mess.
