Check out this new B+C coaxial compression driver.
Supposed to go from 300 to 18,000 Hz. Perhaps good for the "point source" fanatics. lol.
It's got polymide drivers so perhaps not too "harsh" at high spl.
Pretty pricey though.

Might be good on a really large waveguide. But it would need to be very large to support 300Hz response.

I can remember people using similar drivers on really large round tractrix horns. That was not a good combination, in my opinion, because a tractrix horn that's large enough to support 300Hz is a laser-beam in the top octave and even below that. So the wide bandwidth was totally lost in that application.

But maybe a waveguide implementation might work better, since it wouldn't get beamy. There the problem would probably be acoustic loading down low rather than directivity up high.
